20. Found You (Prod. by Deepshower) by 지소울 (G-Soul)
Album: Circles | Release: September 7, 2017 | Listen
I mentioned for “Bad Habit” that there are two styles of music the G.Soul excels at, and “Found You” makes the case for his strength in Electronica/EDM.

19. Please ft. 김효은 (Kim Hyo Eun), 지투 (G2) & Dumbfoundead by DPR 라이브 (DPR Live)
Album: Coming To You Live | Release: March 15, 2017 | Listen
Other Notable 2017 Releases From DPR Live: See #10, Coming To You Live, Her
18. Intro : Serendipity by 지민 (Jimin)
Album: Love Yourself 承 ‘Her’ | Release: September 18, 2017 | Listen
This is a beautiful song that put Jimin’s vocal abilities on the front burner, but unfortunately it’s odd placement as the only solo song BTS’ latest album did it a major disservice.

17. Body Talk by 레드벨벳 (Red Velvet)
Album: Rookie | Release: February 1, 2017 | Listen
Who would have guessed “Body Talk” lay behind a title song like “Rookie?” It’s hidden gem in a sense. Red Velvet’s b-sides tend to be better than their title tracks, and have more depth to them, but “Body Talk” was a different, mature, sensual sound they haven’t quite done before.

16. Love & Affection by 서현 (Seohyun)
Album: Don’t Say No | Release: January 17, 2017 | Listen
Seohyun is also responsible for one of the best bodies of work in 2017, to my surprise. SM is not great at producing cohesive albums, but Seohyun’s was that and an impressive display of vocal ability.

15. Rollin’ by 비원에이포 (B1A4)
Album: Rollin’ | Release: September 25, 2017 | Listen
B1A4 does not ever disappoint. These boys have their 6 years in the industry putting out hit after hit after hit thanks in large part to the songwriting extraordinaire they have their leader, Jinyoung.

14. Fxxk It by Big Bang
Album: MADE | Release: December 12, 2016 | Listen
Another sentimental pick, “Fxxk It” is the last release from my all time favuorite group for a while. But at least they left us with a song that is the thing they do best, a party bop.
13. Goodbye by 2ne1
Album: Goodbye (Single) | Release: January 21, 2017 | Listen
This pick was a sentimental one. I actually really enjoy “Goodbye” and it is one of the best of 2ne1’s take on ballads, but it feels a bit empty due to Minzy absence and because of it’s context in 2ne1’s disbandment.
12. 놓아줘 (Let Me Out) by 종현 (Jonghyun)
Album: The Collection: Story Op. 2 | Release: April 24, 2017 | Listen
When I prepare this list I start revisiting all the releases of the year that I haven’t gotten around to listening to or have missed, and right when I started for this year’s list Jonghyun passed, which prompted me to listen his album.
Jonghyun delivered a solid album in ‘The Collection: Story Op. 2,’ but of all the songs “Let Me Out” is, for me, the most emotional and telling of his struggles.

11. Black Suit by 슈퍼주니어 (Super Junior)
Album: The 8th Album- ‘Play’ | Release: November 6, 2017 | Listen
This song is so classically Super Junior with a grown man twist. I thoroughly enjoy everything about this song, but boy is it a trip to see SuJu as a 5/6 member group.
