I’ve never watched an episode of Unpretty Rapstar, I checked out after the incredibly awkward clip of Jessi’s diss rap in Season 1. And, while I am not crazy about the competition show, I can’t deny the hype surrounding it’s September return.
Unfortunately, the teasers are doing nothing to add to said hype. I guess the girls each got about 20 seconds to show their “skill,” but lord help us all they were ALL a mess. Not one girl had a stand out presence or COMFORT about them. Together it was 3 minutes and 40 seconds of try hard, awkwardness with a two small glimmers of hope.
Truedy
The only thing I got from this was that I wish she spelled her named True-D, ’cause it’d be more rapper-esque.

Kitti B
Hello, glimmer of hope number 1. I still got overwhelming vibes of trying to look hard and tough, but her rap had the closest thing to flow out of everyone.

Yubin
Yubin has always, and will always be my favorite Wonder Girls member, but she has never ever struck me as a “real” rapper.

An Soo Min
Where?

GilMe
And hello, glimmer of hope number two. I’ve been listening to GilMe for years, and she never really wowed be as a rapper, and while I don’t know many of these girls, I didn’t expect her to stick out among the bunch. But, I’m still not sure if it’s her rapping that made her stand out or the beat she was rapping over.

SuA
Being that she is coming from YG, this girl is going to get a lot of CL comparisons, and well…she is far from having The Baddest Female’s presence. Even though she is 17, she looks, and raps like she is way younger, which isn’t good.

Why?

Hyorin
People were complaining about Hyorin joining the show instead of Bora, but people must remember she was a rapper in the group before she was the lead singer (cue Push Push). I do think she was sent to Unpretty Rapstar instead of Bora as a part of Starship’s sick mission to make all other Sistar members obsolete. As for this teaser, this was an awful rap, and I don’t think she’ll do well, but I thought people should know it’s not completely random that she join the show.

I meant to give you a thumbs up
Alright so yes I agree with you Kitti B and GilMe might have a chance I just wish they would relax and not try so hard to be mainstream rapper but everyone else?…. NO! I just couldn’t I was like Wtf… We can’t all be rappers just because you train for years doesn’t mean you gonna be good
There is nothing wrong with being mainstream, to me, it simply refers to who your audience is. There is a problem is they start getting gimmicky for the sake of popularity. If they’re good, and release good songs, and give me a good show, then I will love what they sell me.
