Take a break from Kpop for a few days a breaking news happens. Over the last 5 days Kim Hyun Joong has been a big topic of controversy after he was accused of assaulting his girlfriend, being referred to as A, of 2 years.

The abuse allegedly took place during May and June of 2014. A friend of A released a statement about the relationship on the 21st of August:
“The two have been dating since 2012. After May, there were several instances of problems with women, and in the midst of that, he [Kim Hyun Joong] severely assaulted her [‘A’].”
The information released on 21st stated that A was abused by Kim Hyun Joong, in his apartment, in May and suffered bruising to her face, chest, arm, and rear, and apparently went doctor and was told it would take 2 weeks to fully recover. Then in July, another case abuse took place, this time resulting in A fracturing her rib, which required 6 weeks of recover.
Another friend of A released this statement:
“For the last two months, it was a repeating cycle of assault, apology, and forgiveness. However, the situation kept getting worse, and she [‘A‘] eventually decided to press criminal charges.”
By the 21st, A had filed charges, and submitted proof of her relationship with Kim Hyun Joong to the police, as well as proof of her injuries.
KeyEast, Kim Hyun Joong’s agency, released no statement, except that they were looking into it.

KeyEast releases their official statment:
“After confirming [with Kim Hyun Joong], we found that it’s true the two parties have known each other since 2012, but they didn’t start dating until a few months ago… In the middle of their relationship, the two had an intense exchange of words. Though it’s true that in their heightened emotional state things got physical, it’s not true that there was continual physical assaults or that she’s been battered and beaten over the past two months like what was reported…Their physical fight was a one time occurrence, and her fractured ribs didn’t occur due to their recent argument. Her ribs were injured when they were playing around previously, and the next day, they met with acquaintances. As there didn’t seem to be anything abnormal, her injury wasn’t recognized…We’re very disappointed about the one-sided reports from the accuser making headlines and that the truth is being exaggerated.”
Also, they revealed he would continue his activities as normal, but would work with the police.

Text messages from throughout Kim Hyun Joong and A’s relationship are revealed, as well as from during the alleged abuse
Dispatch, along with the text messages, provided a list of places where both party’s stories contradict each other’s:
- Date of occurences don’t match.
- Number of physical altercations don’t match.
- Different claims regarding the repeated offense.
- The stories behind “Plaintiff A“‘s fractured rib.
- KeyEast claims Kim Hyun Joong & A have known each other since 2012, but have only been dating for a few months. A says they’ve been dating since 2012
Dispatch has also stated:
“A has records of over three instances of assault, therefore the assault was habitual.”

KeyEast responds to Dispatch’s reports with statement:
“Through police investigation, the truth will clearly be revealed…In order for this issue to be resolved quickly, [Kim Hyun Joong] will fully cooperate with the police investigations as soon as he returns from Thailand.”

Kim Hyun Joong reports to the police, and admits to hitting his ex-girlfriend once, but denies other accusations:
“Although it is true that my emotions got the best of me during a fight with words and I hit her once, the rest of [the accusations] are false.”
Police stated:
“Kim Hyun Joong admitted to one assault among the four that he has been accused of, he denied the rest… As for the rib fracture, he said that they didn’t even realize it at the time and that it happened when they were just joking around…As much as the statements of the accuser and accused conflict, we plan to bring in Ms. A. again for further investigation if necessary.”

t says a lot of his ex, when it happened was 2 month ago, so she was thinking to sue him beforehand, clearly or maliciously? if it is correct she prepared everything taking repeated photos of bruises and keeping text messages, After the first hit she should be far away of him. if he is guilty he surely face it, No face there, who is she? better not to know her, it could be dangerous for her. it must be a private case, the only one gainnig money is Dispatch, can you imagine the cost of these private photos among medias, ,they are just showing it one by one,letting people to figure out a lot and increasing its rating. there would be a law to avoid this kind of inf. RED PAGES which people like to read.

I actually think it is a great idea for her to go public with it, because if this is true and she stayed strictly the legal way, maybe it would have been swept under the rug, and Kim Hyun Joong wouldn’t even get punished.
this makes me so sad to hear. as a KHJ fan, I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I can’t support physical fighting in a relationship
I know what you mean, it’s shocking really, and I hope it isn’t true, but the evidence seems to point to it being true.
