[MV Review] It’s a Summer Party with Girl’s Day’s “Darling”!

Everday 4

It’s summer and we’ve all anxiously been waiting to see and hear what groups will put out for the summer. Girl’s Day continue to ride the wave of their new success as they release their contribution to the party that is summer, “Darling.”

The first thing I noticed about this music video was all the vibrant colors and how much perfectly summery it is. I think the color scheme and the song really meshed well. The styling for the music video was cute and went well with the theme, ‘Summer Party.’

As for the song, it is pretty generic. However, it’s addictive in that it can get stuck in your head for hours. I would also so say “달링 (Darling)” has a few familiar elements, In particular, it reminded me a lot of Secret’s Shy Boy.” But, however much generic it was, it is definitely better than another recycled Brave Brothers song.

Also, it was still nice seeing Girls’ Day do more of their once signature, cutesy type concept for this comeback. While, I’ve enjoyed their recent releases, after seeing the same sexy concept from them, three times in a row, plus that fact that the Kpop scene has been over-saturated sexy, it was refreshing to see this side of Girl’s Day again.

Finally, if there was one thing that I did not like about this music video, it was the obvious male gaze shots.

I think it was so unnecessary to have shots of the girls’ butts and crotches. Like seriously, those types of shots really have no purpose to the actual music video. It only brings about netizen criticism for the girls.

Final Score: 3/5
