Report Card:

[Grade Scale: A-F]

Originality:

Women wearing menswear is not innovative by any means not even in Kpop, tis event one of the biggest trends in the US right now. However, Kahi has set herself apart from her the artist around her are, and have tried tackling the tricky concept of menswear for women. She has ditched the typical execution that many of her colleagues stick to (like thisthis or more recently this), and has embraced an more Americanized, and high fashion take on androgynous. For that, I give her high marks, and all thumbs up.

Grade: B+

Real Life Ready:

Like I mentioned menswear for woman in all the rage right now, and like any fashion trend its not for EVERYBODY. While going for a more androgynous style can be done by anyone, the crop top can’t. It just isn’t friendly for all body types, mine include.

Styling/Execution:

When I first saw Kahi’s new do (via her Instagram), I wasn’t completely in love. But, seeing it the video, and with the whole concept I realized it was perfection. If she hadn’t cut her hair it would have taken away from the look, and she wouldn’t seem as matured.

One of the few accessories that Kahi rocked in her MV were a pair of classic John Lennon shads. I don’t think its possible for these things to go out of style, and being on the simpler side, they added to her look rather than over shadowed.

The femininity of Kahi’s new look were, and are the heels. Simple 3 inch pumps were all she needed to make the menswear look feminine. Rather than have everything skin tight and showing off every inch of her bod, she went for baggier pants, and oversized blazer, added some heels, and it still came off incredibly sexy.

Finally, her best asset and greatest accessory…THOSE ABS! Kahi brought sexy to her look, while making girls everywhere green with envy, by making her abs the star of the show!! PERFECTION!

Concept:

With “It’s Me,” its hard to say whether she pulled of the concept because this style is supposed to reflect who she is. If she says this is who she is, all I can say is, I LOVE IT!

Final Grade: A-

While Kahi failed to wow me with her comeback album, she has my jaw dropping every time I lay my eyes on her new look. “It’s Me” is a fashion dream in the world of Kpop with it’s fresh concept, and understated sex appeal, and it is this styling that clues me in on why Kahi decided to graduate from After School. This is a look, and style that the girls of After School could never pull off, being that they’re too busy rocking the to short shorts with the rest of the girl groups. It was time for Kahi to grow, and she did it with her new look.
