f(x) makes their 2013 comeback with their 2nd full length album, “Pink Tape.”
There is nothing about “첫 사랑니 (Rum Pum Pum Pum),” the song, that I don’t like. It was the closest thing on the album to the type of songs they have released before, so it was no surprise for it to be picked for the title song. The video, however, was my main problem area. The video for “첫 사랑니 (Rum Pum Pum Pum)” is everything we’ve seen from f(x) for their last 4 or 5 releases, and its really starting to get predictable, and boring.
“미행 (그림자 : Shadow)” was an instant love for me. It was a completely new sound, and the mini ‘Art Film’ they released as a teaser really helped me see f(x) in a new light. Why this wasn’t their title song, will forever be a mystery to me.
I’d like to meet the person who didn’t like, “Airplane.” This was definitely my all time favorite song from the album, it would have been another perfect choice for promotions.
f(x) has been in the business for 4 years now, but has already become predictable with their uninventive concepts. The promotion of this album shows me neglect on SM’s part. Though f(x)’s sound was completely new and grown up, it was overshadowed by the fact that there was no change in style or image. The title song choice was the closest thing to music they’d promoted in the past, so it overshadowed their change. There was just a big hole in this promotion. Had all aspects of this album release been covered, I think this album would have done much better.
