As we all know by now a rap battle of ridiculous proportions are taking place in Korea’s Hip Hop community. It all started with E-Sens, former member of hip hop duo, Supreme Team, releasing song “You Can’t Control Me.” The song was directed to his former agency Amoeba Culture and Dynamic Duo’s Gaeko whom he accused scamming him, and being fake with him. Honestly, when I first heard about a rap battle in Korea my hip hop loving heart was a flutter with excitement…then it turned into one giant clusterfluck.
It was all fine and dandy when E-Sens was calling people out for their wrong doings, but the feud started going south real fast when Swings decided to come to E-Sens ‘defense’ when NO ONE-ASKED!
“When [E]-Sens was kicked out, you just held hands with Dynamic Duo. When he was asleep, you sent the proof. And then you come out on TV, smile like an idiot like you’re actually nice. Is it his fault that he didn’t want to agree to the 1,000,000,000 KRW (approximately $895,000 USD) slave contract? Simon-D you f***er I knew you were bad from the moment you stole JTONG. Simon D, go with Primary to the gay bar.”
His first mistake was insulting Simon D in the name of E-Sens because…well the members of Supreme Team are obviously still friends, maybe not as close as before, but still friends. His second, incredible HUGE mistake, was sighting Kendrick Lamar as his inspiration. For a man who speaks English fluently (member of Uptown with former member, Yoon Mirae) completely missed the message of Kendrick Lamar’s famous verse from song “Control.”
While, Swings took every opportunity insult just about everyone he could think of, Kendrick Lamar was calling for his fellow rappers to step up their, give him something to compete with. With that being said, let’s take a look at some of what Swings had to say about the rap community.
1. He Insults his own label, Brand New Music, by saying:
“Illionaire is my goal and of course I acknowledge Gonzo [aka Dok2]”
If I was the CEO for BNM I’d see this as Swings’ way of saying he isn’t happy with his label, and he has no loyalty to my company.
2. He calls out other rappers for copy what they see black artists do…but yet he is copying Kendrick Lamar….a-black-rapper….
“Kendrick’s really amazing as he woke me up all the way from Cali…
With your awkward gestures and talk mimicking black people…
My mentality is Tupac and my mouth is a fuckin’ boombox”
“I want to even kill your crew, fucking hunchback roachI hire foreign workers to gang rape you…that’s revenge”
“Except the fucking rookies because y’all are just fucking rookies
When I was a rookie, I wasn’t like you guys so step it up”
“Your skills are short like the length of Clara’s shorts”
